About us
NorthTec has been delivering education for the people of Tai Tokerau for
over 40 years and continues to be committed to serving our communities.
From their beginnings in 1978 as the Northland Community College, they've
grown to become Tai Tokerau’s largest provider of tertiary and vocational
education, with seven degree programmes and more than 100 study
options.
Their purpose-built trades training centre is in Dyer St, in the heart of Whangārei’s industrial area is world class.
Most of NorthTec’s trades and primary industries programmes are based at this campus, which houses automotive, carpentry and engineering workshops, a health and safety training arena and a large outdoor horticultural area.
